FAQ’s
Where are you located?
I have two office locations: one in Whitecourt and another in Edmonton. While I primarily work from the Whitecourt office, I travel to Edmonton every three weeks to offer in-person sessions. I also provide online therapy for clients across Alberta, offering flexibility to meet your needs no matter where you are.
Do you offer a free consultation to learn more about your services?
Yes, I offer a free 15-minute consultation to discuss your needs, explore how my approach can support you, and determine if we're a good fit. This is a great chance for you to ask any questions. Contact me to schedule your consultation.
How much do sessions cost?
Each session is $220, which is slightly below the recommended rate of $235 for psychologists in Alberta. If you don’t have insurance or find the full rate unaffordable, I offer sliding scale counselling to help make therapy more accessible. Contact me to inquire about sliding scale options and discuss a fee that works for you.
What is sliding scale therapy?
Sliding scale therapy offers flexible pricing based on your financial situation. It’s available for individuals who are uninsured, have limited insurance coverage, or find the standard rate unaffordable but still want to access regular therapy.
If you're interested in sliding scale therapy, please reach out to discuss your needs and how we can make therapy more affordable for you.
Is therapy covered by insurance in Canada?
Yes, most benefit providers in Canada cover psychological counselling services. I can direct bill to major insurance companies such as Blue Cross, Canada Life, and Manulife Financial.
If your insurance provider isn’t listed, feel free to inquire, and I can check if direct billing can be set up. If your plan doesn’t allow direct billing, I will provide detailed receipts for you to submit for reimbursement.
Contact me if you have questions about coverage or billing.
How often do I need to come?
The frequency of sessions depends on your unique needs, preferences, and goals. While regular sessions are generally recommended for the best results, some clients prefer to meet weekly, bi-weekly, or on a different schedule. We can discuss what works best for you.
Do I have a say in what modalities you use?
Absolutely! I integrate several therapeutic approaches—including cognitive, emotion-focused, and somatic therapies—to tailor treatment to your needs. Your feedback is vital, and I encourage you to let me know if there are specific methods or approaches you’d like to focus on during our sessions.
What additional training do you have?
I have specialized training in Somatic Experiencing, a trauma-informed approach that helps with nervous system regulation and emotional recovery after stressful events. In addition, I’ve completed Levels 1 and 2 in Clinical Hypnosis, Emotion-Focused Therapy, Prolonged Exposure Therapy, and training in sexuality-related issues. I’m committed to ongoing learning to enhance my skills and best support my clients.
What issues do you treat?
I support clients with a wide range of concerns, including but not limited to:
Anxiety Management & Stress Relief
Trauma Recovery & PTSD
Burnout Prevention & Recovery
Self-Esteem/Self-Worth & Perfectionism
Grief Counselling
Depression Support
Personal Growth
Relationship Issues
Sexuality-Related Concerns (Specializing in women)
Whether you're seeking relief from anxiety, recovering from trauma, or working on personal growth, I'm here to support you on your journey.
Can I just try a session to see if it’s a good fit?
Yes, of course! It's important to find a therapist who feels like the right match for you. If you're uncertain, a trial session is a great way to see if my approach works for you. If you prefer, I can also provide referrals to other therapists.
What is the cancellation policy?
To avoid being charged for a full session, please provide at least 24 hours' notice if you need to cancel. For example, if your session is on Monday at 2 PM, please let me know by Sunday at 2 PM.
Do you live in Whitecourt?
I live outside of Whitecourt, about 40 minutes away. This means that when you work with me, you can feel confident knowing our counselling relationship remains distinct from the local social scene.
