Rediscovering an Ancient Key, the Power to Relax

In today’s fast-paced world, relaxation often takes a back seat to productivity and hustle. We work until we crash, physically, mentally emotionally.

The effects of relaxation on mental and physical health are both profound, and profoundly overlooked. Indeed, many of us just don’t know how to relax. When stimulation is subtracted from a wired nervous system, one only experiences that: a wired system.

We come to therapy with a variety of problems: anxiety, depression, overwhelm, a sense of meaninglessness, sleep disturbances, chronic fatigue, you name it. But what if the problem is not the problem? Often the issues we experience are the result of our fast-paced lifestyle, one that is far removed from the natural rhythms of life… rhythms of the seasons, rhythms of the nervous system, rhythms of rest and rejuvenation that our bodies need to thrive.

We teach our nervous systems to go-go-go, so when its time to rest it still goes. We first need to un-learn this pattern, for us to re-learn the ancient skill of relaxation.

Deep relaxation is therapeutic, profoundly healing, and preventative. It heals symptoms of stress and helps us to re-orient ….to the nurture of our bodies and minds at rest. I know nothing more healing. You don’t need to have a symptom to support your body with relaxing therapies, such as Clinical Hypnosis, or Somatic Experiencing. Support your body with rest, and you might just tackle the symptoms before they arise. Reach out to rediscover the ancient skill of rest.
